Clay Chicken Bowl
-
June 15, 2026
5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
w/ McCall Hocking
Monday June 15
5-9pm
$40 for OS Members
$65 for everyone else

For intermediate ceramics folks only.
*OS members will bring an already wheel thrown or hand built bowl that is still pretty soft, not quite leatherhard, and use their own clay and glaze. Non-members will have a 5 lb bowl thrown out of clay for them, and will use Warehouse clay and glaze to sculpt the head and tail for their chicken.* please register for correct spot to get bowl thrown for you.
Make a fun and quirky chicken bowl out of clay. See how to alter the bowl through shaping and creating darts, then use other handbuilding techniques to sculpt and attach the head and tail. Finish with some loop tools to give feather texture.
We’ll go through step by step as a group with lots of working time in between. McCall recommends a larger bowl (4-5 lbs) but you could also do a few smaller ones as well during this time. If you have questions about size, please ask her.
This class will be just the creation of the chicken bowl…glazing can be done another day or the instructor can glaze your choice of color for you.
Instructor Bio: McCall is a mom of two young kiddos, the Warehouse’s Marketing Director, an avid oil painter in her free time, creating usually weird and whimsical surrealist portraits, and a ceramic artist. She got her degree in ceramics from UW-Madison and was a high/middle school art teacher in Colorado before moving to the Northwoods. You can find her instagram here.
