Raku Discussion
w/ John Langer
Thursday June 18
10am-12 OR 12-2pm
$15

Join artist John Langer for this one day ceramic workshop, learning all about the raku process. The raku technique is when glazed ceramics are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing red hot and are then placed in a material that would be able to catch fire, such as sawdust or newspaper. This technique is used to starve the piece of oxygen, which creates a myriad of colors within the glaze.
This class will be a discussion only. However, students can go to John’s home studio, Bear Paw Pottery, for Raku firing during both of the summer and fall Northwoods Art Tours in July and October. If you’d like, you can bring bisqueware and if you wish to have any of your Raku pieces glaze fired, John is asking for a $10 to be paid to him for cost of glaze and firing.

Class fees must be paid at the time of registration.
