Do you have previous experience on the potter’s wheel and want to move forward with those skills?
This new intermediate level class is for clay students who are comfortable making pots and want to explore new ways of finishing their pieces. During the 5 week course instructor Amy Higgason will demonstrate carving and stamping techniques to add textures and patterns to your clay pieces. She will also show ways of using commercial underglazes and/or colored slips to draw or paint on clay. The class is a perfect opportunity to explore alternatives to the standard studio glazes. Time will also be spent with students one-on-one as they work on the wheel or hand build during class. Specialty tools will be available to purchase from the instructor. See examples of the instructors work at www.pigeonroadpottery.com.
Prerequisite for this class is at least one hand building or wheel throwing class.
