w/ Susan Athens

1/2* – 3pm

$45

Join instructor Susan Athens on the Warehouse patio and learn the batik process while creating your own tea towel. Batik is an ancient art form originating in Indonesia. It is a “resist” method-meaning bees wax forms a barrier to dye. After using stamps, tjanting tools, and paint brushes to apply wax to a flour sack towel (from Roots Juice Bar in Eagle a River!) , students will learn to make a low immersion dye bath to soak the towels. Completed projects will be picked up at a later date because the wax will have to be boiled off of the towels.

*because of wait times with the wax, we will be staggering start times. Up to four students will start at 1pm and the second set of up to four students will start at 2pm.* please only come at your designated start up time.

All supplies included. Will be using latex gloves.

Min 4, max 8
