For our next installment of Corks & Canvas, Artist Teacher Ryan Doberstien will guide participants through creating work in the style of artists, Piet Mondrian & Anselm Keifer.
You will begin by working in the style of Piet Mondrian, exploring pre-World War II Utopian ideas of pure, all over, “rational,” balanced, minimalist composition. Some materials you will even include rulers and masking tape. Primary colors will be on the forefront!
You will then contrast Mondrian with Anselm Kiefer‘s work inspired by life amid the rubble of postwar West Germany. Engage with mythology, totems, and memory. Create moody, one point perspective landscapes experimenting and incorporating materials such as straw, ash, clay, and shellac.
Class fee is $35 for all materials (2 canvases, paints, etc) PLUS one free drink from the Inspiration Bar.
