McKinley Lake photography excursion with John Bates and Libby Scott

Book it now! Class size is very limited. Join, Naturalist, John Bates, and Photographer, Libby Scott, while canoeing on McKinley Lake.
John will guide you through McKinley Lake, a 42-acre, undeveloped lake, that is one of the most botanically rich lakes in northern Wisconsin. He will point out the amazing plant and animal life, (including carnivorous Sundews and wild Rose Pogonia Orchids,) while Libby will give you pointers on how to take great photographs of the lake’s amazing scenery. The Warehouse will provide snacks and drinks.

Libby is looking forward to sharing photo techniques with you, but please be aware that water and cameras do not mix well.  Please consider bringing your “old” camera- and/ or a dry bag for your photo equipment. Likewise- consider using a waterproof case for your cell phone. The Warehouse and it’s presenters are not responsible for any damage or injuries that could happen to your adventure.

Please also bring comfortable shoes as part of the workshop will include a hike on shore.

John Bates

John Bates is a noteworthy author and naturalist who focuses on the natural history of the Northwoods. He has worked as a naturalist in Wisconsin’s Northwoods for 32 years and leads trips and does presentations designed to help people further understand the remarkable diversity and beauty of nature, and our place within it. He and his wife, fiber artist Mary Burns, live on the Manitowish River in Iron County where they raised two daughters.
Libby Scott
Star Lake, WI
Libby Scott is an award-winning photographer that shows her work in several galleries in the Northwoods and teaches photography classes at LOLA Arts in Land O’ Lakes, the Warehouse Art Center, in Eagle River, and the Discovery Nature Center. Libby resides in Star Lake, Wi with her husband, Doug.
