Pottery with Sgraffito Surface Decoration

June Ceramics- Pottery with underglaze, newsprint, and sgraffito surface decoration

This class will explore various forms that lend themselves to these surface decoration techniques. Students with wheel throwing skills can use a combination of altered wheel thrown forms and hand built components. Other students will hand-build their pieces with slabs and coils. Students will learn and apply layered surface decoration techniques that involve newsprint resist, sgraffito, and underglazes.
