June 29th: Jason Moon, benefitting Warrior Songs

Join us as Jason Moon graces us with a farewell concert and benefit for Warrior Songs. Jason is an Eagle River native and a veteran who is also a singer/songwriter, and he will be leaving soon to move with his family to Arizona.

“In 2011, Jason released Trying to Find My Way Home, an “accidental concept album” based on his own war experiences and on his attempts after his homecoming to regain the man he was before he was deployed. In Iraq he frequently performed for his fellow troops, but for over five years after his return in 2004 he was unable to finish more than a single song – despite songwriting once being his greatest joy in life.

Based on the success of TTFMWH in the veterans community, Jason started a new nonprofit, Warrior Songs, Inc., in 2012. Warrior Songs seeks to take the stories provided by veterans and honor them by setting them to music and turning them into songs.”

Warrior Songs: Volume 1 has had significant success and Jason is currently working on completing Warrior Songs second album titled, “Women at War: Volume 2” featuring the perspective of female veteran soldiers.

July 20 th: Pete and the Stray Dogs, benefitting the Vilas County Humane Society

Pete and the Stray Dogs takes form as an acoustic duo, as an electric five piece, and everything in between. Lanctot’s narrative songwriting has been likened to artists such as The Carter Family, Townes Van Zandt and “a backwoods Nick Cave,” and is firmly rooted in blues, folk, country, and experimental music, offering pinhole views into the lives of characters that range from real to mythological.

Formed in 2012, Pete and the Stray Dogs is regularly touring throughout the United States and maintains an active performance schedule in New York and the Tri-State area.
