Arts & Aging events are scheduled at Milestone is Eagle River and Woodruff!

Our ARTS & AGING program began in 2018.

This program is designed to visit assisted living facilities and community centers in Vilas & Oneida Counties bringing artistic experiences to this very special segment of our community population.

Inspired by the work of Anne Basting, PhD, Professor of Theatre at the Peck School of the Arts University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, we model our ARTS & AGING curriculum using her TimeSlips methodology. The TimeSlips program focuses on imagination rather than memory to connect with others through creativity, specifically those with dementia and memory issues. Our TimeSlips certified instructor, Johanna Buwalda, visits assisted living facilities in the area and works with residents who cannot make it to the Warehouse. Using a photo prompt, participants use their imaginations to cocreate a story to go along with the photo.
