Our ARTS & AGING program is designed to visit assisted living facilities and community centers in Vilas, Oneida, and Forest Counties bringing artistic experiences to this very special segment of our community population.

Inspired by the work of Anne Basting (Ph.D.), Professor of Theatre at the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, The Warehouse built the curriculum using her TimeSlips methodology as the basis for our arts experiences which meet the individuals where they are- at assisted living facilities around the Northwoods.

The TimeSlips program works to focus on imagination rather than memories to connect with others through creativity, specifically those with dementia and memory issues. Our TimeSlips certified instructor, Johanna Buwalda, makes a visit to an assisted living facility each week and works with the residents. Together, they look at a photo and use their imaginations to envision and write a story to go along with the photo.

This program is sponsored by Northwoods United Way.
