We will paint winter scenes with backlit evergreens, and also ornaments with a warm glow that are framed by greens. Beginners to Intermediate levels welcome and I hope you join us! Great for holiday cards or gifts.
Techniques: color mixing, layering, use of masking fluid
Materials:
Paper: 140 lb, 100% Cotton paper, 2- 5 x 7, 1- 8 x 10, and scrap paper for practice
Brushes: liner or brush with fine point, sizes 6 and 12 rounds, quill or mop to wet paper (optional)
Pigments: Student grade (such as Windsor Newton Cotman) is acceptable, or professional grade watercolor paints are recommended. Guidelines for the palette I will use are as follows (please use comparable colors you have in your palette).
-New Gamboge (yellow)
-*Quinacridone Gold
-Quinacridone Red (berry color)
-Red
-Cerulean Blue (sky blue or turquoise)
-*Ultramarine blue
-*Undersea green (can mix from Quin Gold and Ultramarine)
-Perylene green
-Shadow green
-Sepia, or neutral tint, or Payne’s gray to darken the tone of colors
-White ink or gouache
-Masking fluid such as Drawing Gum available at Hobby Lobby or Amazon
-The Warehouse will provide tape, boards, spray bottles, etc., but if you have them, please bring.
Bio:
Jeanne is a retired college professor from VA. She and her husband divide their time between the Shenandoah Valley and the Northwoods. In Eagle River she paints with the Warehouse watercolor group and is now a SIGNATURE member of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society.
Cancellation policy:
Class fees must be paid at the time of registration.
Full refunds or credits will be issued in the event a class or workshop is cancelled.
You must cancel a minimum of a week prior to the class or workshop in order to receive a 75% refund.
No refunds or credits will be made for cancelling within a week of the first day of the class or workshop.
A $5 processing fee will be charged for refunded classes.
