In this 5-week series, you’ll learn how to make items from clay!

The first 2 sessions will be focused on making pinch pots and adding coils and texture. Participants will learn how to combine multiple pieces of clay and develop “creatures with features.”  Work can progress to combining multiple pieces of clay. Individual exploration of these techniques will encourage the development of “creatures with features”. The 5-8 group would work the same technique with direction in more advanced slab joining and individual projects.

November 9 & 16 – We will learn to manipulate clay into pinch pots and learn to add coils and texture. Also, we will learn to join pieces of clay and work on individual projects.
November 30 – We will paint pieces made from the previous 2 sessions.
December 7 – We will explore the use of clay tablets in ancient history and explore mark making and communication.
December 14 – In this class we will look at examples of African mask making and draw inspiration to create our own clay mask.

Join us for a free, family-friendly exhibit on Saturday, December 16th from 1-3pm.
