The Warehouse Art Center in Eagle River offers its next round of After School Art classes starting in October 2018. This session includes two tracks: K-3 and 4-8. Each track is 5 sessions long, costs $75 per child (contact us for info on multi-sibling discounts and needs-based scholarships). Bussing from Northland Pines Schools is also available for Monday (4-8) and Thursday’s (K-3) after school sessions.
Pieces of art created early in this series will be exhibited during our After School Art Exhibit on Friday, Nov 2nd from 5-7pm. Please plan to attend this free, family-friendly event.
Thursdays 4-5:30 Oct 4th- Nov 1st with Exhibit on Friday, Nov 2nd from 5-7pm
Oct 4: Exploring cameras! Observe different cameras. Compare and contrast the differences between large format 4×5 and 35 mm. Discuss photographic principles and famous photographers. Make images.
Oct 11: Pinhole Photography! Make a basic pinhole camera and shoot a self-portrait.
Oct 18: Cyanotype lesson 1! Discuss Anna Atkins; explore the chemistry used; prep cotton fabric for image making.
Oct 25: Cyanotype lesson 2! Prep images and expose last week’s fabric to sunlight, rinse is specialized baths and hang to dry. Explore image transfer using tape.
Nov 1: Polaroids! Discuss history and explore Polaroid creation.

Oct 1: Suminigashi (floating ink drawings)
Oct 8: Sumi Brush Work (Shodo)
Oct 15: Origami (paper folding) and Orizomegami (paper folding with dyes)
Oct 22: Japan Blue/Indigo/Basic Shibori (“Japanese Tie Dye”)
Oct 29: Make Art inspired by the work of a contemporary Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama.
